Can You Hear Me Now?

Kaylee went to her new audiologist in Fort Wayne yesterday afternoon. After a slight meltdown (yes, there were tears), she left with her hearing aids adjusted. She is now to start wearing both hearing aids v. left hearing aid only as previously instructed.

The audiologist thinks that Kaylee is hearing out of her right ear, so she wants to make sure it is getting amplified. We are to return in three weeks to have another hearing test with the hearing aids. (Prior hearing test was without hearing aids.) We'll make a comparison and see how Kaylee is progressing at that point.

Again, thank you so much for praying. We have come a long way. Three years ago she was undergoing testing for a cochlear implant, which we were blessed to not have to undergo. Today she is diagnosed with only mild hearing loss in one ear and profound hearing loss in the other. It is such a blessing to witness the power of prayer.

Another Great Check-Up

Kaylee had another great check-up today with her ENT doctor. He indicated that her ears look great. One of her ear tubes has fallen out, and the other tube is laying in her ear canal. It could fall out any day.

She also met with the audiologist for a few tests. It still appears as though hearing loss in the right ear is profound, and the left ear has only mild hearing loss. She recommended that we have her hearing aid for her left ear adjusted. Most likely it is set too high. We are getting a referral for a pediatric audiologist in our area to take care of the hearing aid adjustment.

We also found out that the hospital is acquiring a new machine in the fall that will allow Kaylee to have an ABR while awake. As of now, the test would require her to be sedated. Obviously, we would rather not have her sedated if possible -- I however would welcome sedation for me!! :)

Not only did we get a great report, but Kaylee also had a ton of fun playing on the slide in the waiting room. She played while waiting for the doctor and also after the appointment was over. Before we left she was sliding down head-first. Probably a good thing we were within walking distance of the ER. Here are a few pics of our wait.

So many of you have diligently prayed for Kaylee's ongoing needs and development. Thank you so much. God is doing great works!
