Singing Star

Lexy and Kaylee tried out Lexy's new video game on Christmas day. Here is a clip of their performance.

Doo-Rah!

The Dora purse from Chris was a big hit. Here is a video of Kaylee getting her gift.

Through the eyes of a child

Kaylee received a Fisher Price Kid Tough digital camera for Christmas. Here are a few pictures of how Kaylee sees the world...

Stand Up!

Kaylee is now standing all by herself for short periods of time. As you can see, she is very proud...and so are we!

Otolaryngologist

Otolaryngologist...say that five times fast.

Kaylee saw her otolaryngologist yesterday at Peyton Manning Children's Hospital at St. Vincent in Indianapolis. (Go Colts!) The doctor indicated that her ear tubes were clear and everything looked great!

Kaylee also had a hearing test with the audiologist while we were there. The audiologist said that it was Kaylee's best hearing test to date. She appeared to be hearing at a normal level in her left ear and hearing some out of her right ear. It is now our choice as to whether Kaylee wears her hearing aid in the left ear. We'll probably have her continue to wear it at school, but won't worry about any other time.

The audiologist recommended that we continue hearing tests in Fort Wayne until the follow-up appointment in the summer. She thinks that maybe Kaylee has auditory neuropathy. I still don't know what it is, but I'll be doing some research.

Again, thank you to everyone who has been praying. Kaylee is a living, breathing example of the power of prayer.

Thanksgiving

We enjoyed Thanksgiving dinner at Grandma Jerri's again this year. Kaylee is getting to be quite the big girl these days. Drinking out of her own cup and doing her own 'make-up'.

Preschool Progress Report

Kaylee brought home a progress report from school yesterday. We were very pleased with what her teachers had to say. Here are a few tidbits...

"Kaylee is progressing very well this year. Her social skills with peers are taking off!"

"Kaylee is a very pleasant little girl who works so hard on her physical skills. She has made huge improvements again this year since school has started. At the beginning of the year, she was walking very little and a short distance. She is now ambulating often in the classroom and over 100 feet during PT...and independently, requiring only verbal cues for turning."

We are so proud of our little girl. Thank you so much to everyone that continues to pray for Kaylee. God is good...all the time!!!

Trick or Treat

Kaylee did a little Trick or Treating last Saturday evening. Here are a couple videos we shot at Grandpa Steve & Grandma Kay's house.

Sleepy Girl

Kaylee must have been busy at daycare today. She fell asleep in the car on the way home. I looked back from the front seat to find her fast asleep with her sunglasses on upside down. Too funny! I just had to snap a quick photo to share - not until the car was parked though. :)

Jack O' Lantern

Kaylee helped carve a jack o' lantern today.

She did not want to stick her hand inside the pumpkin to dig out all the yucky stuff.

Hand washing was much more interesting.

Leah & Samuel Visit Indiana

Leah and Samuel are visiting Indiana this week. Last night we had an opportunity to get together with our West Coast crew.

Kaylee and Samuel took a little time to get reacquainted at Great-Grandpa and Great-Grandma McLallin's last night.

Samuel really checked Kaylee out. He was very curious about her. How cute!

Thanks to Aunt Peggy for the Vera Bradley aprons. Kaylee loves hers. She insisted on wearing it home.

Kaylee Walking

Kaylee is now walking with her walker on a regular basis. She is doing great! (I apologize for the poor video quality; it was shot on my cell phone.)

Jam Session

Logan, Kaylee and McKenzie sat down for a jam session after church on Sunday. As you can see, Kaylee was too excited about playing the piano to even turn around for a photo.
Also, Kaylee saw Dr. Wooden at Riley today. She received a great report. He said that the healing is going well and he is happy with the way her incision looks. She is to go back in the spring for a follow-up to see if an additional surgery will be necessary. Again, thank you to everyone who has been praying for her healing. We are truly blessed!

Harvest

Harvest has started in Northeast Indiana. Kaylee got in on the action last Saturday. She rode with Uncle Mike in the combine and watched Great-Grandpa Lewie fill the grain bin with corn.

Two Weeks Later...

Kaylee is continuing to heal. Her incision looks great and she seems to be feeling well. She has a follow-up appointment with Dr. Wooden at Riley on Monday, October 15. Hopefully he is as happy with her progress as we are.

Special note: As you can see from this post and my previous post, Kaylee has become quite fond of jewelry. She was awarded the necklace she is wearing at school for being a good listener and helping put toys away - maybe I should try awarding her with jewelry at home. :) I'm not sure that she has taken it off since she received it. The second day she wore it the clasp broke, so now she has a beautiful green paperclip holding things together.

One Week Later...

Kaylee is doing great one week after surgery. As you can see from the photo above, the swelling is starting to go down. Lookin' good!

Surgery at Riley

Dr. Wooden marked Kaylee's lip with a purple marker before surgery.

Kaylee was given an oral sedative before taken back to the OR. It hit her really hard, really fast. She rested in the wagon before they took her into surgery.

This is Kaylee and Daddy the day after surgery. She is in great spirits and looks fantastic. As you can see from the stain on her shirt, she did not want any pain medication. She spit it back out at me.

Getting Started

I am a newby to the blogging world, so please be gentle. Leah has set the bar high for cute pics and fun stories. What a great way to share the lives of those that are precious to us. Nobody logged on to this page to hear my ramblings, so let's just get right to the important stuff...Kaylee!

Thank you to all of you who have been so faithful in praying for Kaylee. As an answer to our prayers, Kaylee's surgery went well. She is doing great and we are so thankful. She shocked us all by coming home early from the hospital following surgery.
